If you're interested in trying Bubble Tea, or maybe exploring new flavors, then you're in the right place. Here are my favorite Boba flavors ranked, along with the book genre they remind me of!
5. Thai Milk Tea
You can't go wrong with a classic Thai Milk Tea! Usually recognized by its orange color, Thai Milk Tea can be usually found at your local Thai restaurant or store. I've found that the sweetness of this drink often differs from place to place. My recommendation is to ask a worker there how sweet the tea is and change it accordingly. If you enjoy a flavor blasted drink, the many spices in this drink will be just for you! Thai Milk Tea reminds me of a mystery novel. The whole drink is thrilling and has an overwhelming taste, perfectly like the suspense in a classic mystery.
4. Passion-Fruit Green Tea
Passion-Fruit Green Tea is one of the only fruity drinks I enjoy. The tropical, refreshing, and slightly nutty flavor packed with passion fruit, pineapple, and sometimes mango creates such a powerful combo. This drink was recommended to me by a worker at my local Boba shop and it has been my go-to punch drink for the summer. Passion-Fruit Green Tea reminds me of comedic-drama books. Dramas make me happy, sad, and all the between, while this drink has the power to put me in any mood I wish for. I compare it to this genre specifically since it is so refreshing to read a fun book once in a while, like it is to drink this tea!
3. Jasmine Milk Tea
Jasmine Milk Tea has a very unique taste that is hard to forget. The taste is smooth and has a subtle floral and fragrant feel to it. The freshness makes you feel more active and energized! I remember drinking this for the first time at a local shop on a road trip. The drink instantly refreshed me through the sweet but subtle bitter after taste. One recommendation I would make for those with a sweet tooth is to add some more sugar if a small bitter taste is not your cup of tea. Jasmine Milk Tea reminds me of an action-fantasy genre book. The bitterness underneath the sweet flavor reminds me of a hero winning against a villain. The floral and fragrant taste reminds me of all things mystical.
2. Black Milk Tea/ Classic Milk Tea
Nothing can go wrong with trying the Boba flavor. Most Boba flavors are built with a black tea base, and some are built with a green tea base. This drink was my first Bubble Tea flavor, and it certainly started my obsession of on the right foot! What I love about this drink is that you can modify the sweetness to be up to your taste. The flavor is distinctly sweet and creamy with a little hint of tea. If I were to compare Black Milk Tea to a book genre, it would have to be Romance. The drink is smooth and easygoing, but also has the hint of tea that symbolizes the bumps in the road to reach a happily-ever-after.
1. Taro Milk Tea
Where do I get started with this one! Taro Milk Tea is probably my go-to flavor as it's perfect for any mood you are in. Tired? This drink will energize you. Sad? The flavor will thrill you. Happy? The creamy goodness will soothe you. The drink originates from a purple root vegetable called taro. Don't let this fool you though, as it tastes like creamy sweet rich vanilla with a hint of nutty flavor. The boba pearls go perfectly with the drink and add a little contrast to the texture of the drink. If I could compare this to any book genre, it would have to be coming-of-age. The more you drink, the better it gets, just as the more a character learns, the more development they undergo!
