Kick off the 2025 year with gratitude! In this post, we’ll explore the idea of gratitude and how to incorporate it into your daily life using a gratitude jar. A gratitude jar can keep you focused, help you appreciate the little things, and start your year on a positive note!
Gathering Supplies:
In order to create a gratitude jar, all you really need is a jar or container of any kind, some type of paper, a pen, and different decorations to your liking! Things like construction paper or sticky notes can be used for the slips and I recommend using Google or Pinterest to look at design inspiration! For decor, stickers, paint, or masking tape are just some of the things that can be used to make your gratitude jar look as good as the heartfelt notes it contains! If you’re not feeling too creative, don’t worry, even if all you have or want to use is the jar, pen, and paper, that’s all right! This project requires only the creativity you can spare!
Creating the Jar:
Step-by -Step Instructions
While you don’t need to exclusively follow these steps, they’re just a guideline to get you started:
Prepare your jar: If necessary, clean your jar to be sure it’s ready. The jar itself can be something you find at home or something you buy just for this.
Decorate: Personalize your jar with whatever makes your heart happy. You can use stickers, ribbons, colored tape, paint, or anything else you find to make it visually appealing.
Cut Your Paper Slips: Cut (or rip, if that’s what you’re feeling), pieces of paper into small slips. If you’d like, you can even use sticky notes.
Set Up a Place for Your Gratitude Jar: Set aside a special area for your jar, slips, and pens, preferably in a place where you can easily get to them daily.
Using Your Gratitude Jar:
Each day, take a slip, write down something you are grateful for, then place it in your jar. Set aside time (weekly or monthly) to regularly reflect on your gratitude notes.
Alternate method of execution:
An alternative option is to create a memory jar. Instead of writing something you are grateful for, you could write down a memory from the day or something positive that happened that day. It could be anything from eating your favorite meal, seeing a gorgeous sunset, or an achievement you’re proud of. This can be looked at periodically, or it can be saved and looked at at the end of the year.
Staying Consistent:
Establish a routine:
It can be easy to find yourself lacking motivation or forgetting to complete a slip some days. Find a way to incorporate the practice into your daily routine, make a habit of writing the slips before bed or during breakfast.
Get Creative
If you find writing notes boring, try changing it up. Draw small pictures, color code your notes by topic, or add photos to represent what you’re thankful for.
Making a gratitude jar is a simple and positive way to start the new year! Taking note of the little things allows for a greater appreciation of all the things coming and going in life!
Happy Crafting!
