Discover the Secrets of the World with Aristotle and Dante

The story of Aristotle and Dante was never supposed to surprise me as much as it did. It definitely was an out-of-the-ordinary book genre for me, considering my taste consisted of sappy romance, fantasy, and lots of action. However, this coming-of-age novel has been the best eye-opener and has left me in uncontrollable tears.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is a story of the family and friendship of two vastly different teens and their journey to adulthood. Set in El Paso, Texas in 1987, the two Mexican-American boys already face many hardships. Dante shares a unique perspective of life, and his optimism stuns Aristotle. It's up to Dante to tear down Aristotle's walls that are built around himself and test their friendship with the hurdles that come their way.

Benjamin Saenz's way of writing is so immersive and deep as it puts me in the position of Aristotle. He and Dante face themes of race and ethnicity, sexuality, and general teenage problems of understanding oneself, which I believe many teens are struggling with. While the simple book is innocent and pure, it speaks a harsh truth; to value yourself, accept yourself, and learn your worthiness.

Come join Aristotle and Dante's journey of Discovering the Secrets of the universe, and you might learn a thing or two.
