Howl's Moving Castle

I was pretty much raised on Studio Ghibli movies growing up. I remember me and my younger sibling going to the Costco DVD section looking for Studio Ghibli movies we had not seen yet. Howl's Moving Castle is one of the most popular Studio Ghibli films, and for good reason.

The plot is fantastic. The story beats hit perfectly and you aren't left with the feeling that it went too slow or too fast, especially with it being a two-hour movie. The movie really masters the idea that there is a deeper meaning in everything. The first time you watch it, at least for me, may not make complete sense. Watching it for a third time helped me understand the things I was originally confused about. Be patient when watching for the first time, it gets better, promise.

This movie is 1000% one of the top three most beautifully done Studio Ghibli films. From the animation style to the voice acting and then back again to the animation for the nature scenes. I mean, can we talk about the "secret" flower garden and the mountains? Wonderfully done.

To end this, I need to discuss the amazing music score. "You're in Love" and "The Flower Garden" are so beautiful. It makes you nostalgic for something you never had. This movie simply would not be the way it is without its score. It enhances so much in the scenes and makes you feel like you're right there with Sophie and Howl. Beautiful.

If you are not a fan of anime, I do not care. Go watch this movie, it will change your opinion. I also recommend Castle in the Sky and When Marnie was There. Those are my favorite Studio Ghibli movies that don't get talked about as much as they should.
