With the somewhat recent release of Colleen Hoover's new book, It Starts With Us, comes new drama in the rollercoaster that is Lily Bloom's life. It Starts With Us picks up right where the epilogue for It Ends With Us left off. The book is told through the alternating perspectives of Atlas Corrigan and Lily Bloom. In this book, we stand alongside Lily as she juggles her newly chaotic life as a single mom, floral shop owner, and co-parent. She also has to deal with her ex-husband Ryle Kincaid, someone that can't quite let Lily go. In celebration of the release of the new book, here are two quick and easy recipes to make inspired by the ones Atlas makes for Lily in It Starts With Us.
Rendition of Atlas's 'Why Are you Avoiding Me' Pasta
Ingredients Needed:
1 ½ cups Semolina Pasta Flour
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
4 eggs (room temperature and slightly beaten)
4 tablespoons Olive Oil
4 tablespoons Water
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Make the dough either by hand or using a stand mixer.
If making by hand, combine the semolina, flour, beaten eggs, water, oil, and salt. Mix to make a stiff dough. Knead for 10 minutes by hand.
If using a stand mixer, combine the semolina, flour, beaten eggs, water, salt, and oil in a stand mixer bowl. Knead on medium speed with a dough hook.
If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle on additional semolina until it comes together.
If the dough is too dry, sprinkle water until you get the right consistency.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or in a covered bowl and it let rest for at least 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out to your desired thickness and cut as desired.
You can dredge pasta in flour to ensure it doesn't stick together. Either set on a cookie sheet until ready to cook or the dry pasta on a drying rack.
To cook, bring a large pot of heavily-salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until tender (approximately 3 - 5 minutes).

Rendition of Atlas's Pancakes
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 ¼ cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions:
In a large bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
Make a "volcano" well in the middle and pour in the milk, egg, and butter. Mix with a whisk or fork until smooth.
Heat a non-stick griddle or a large pan over medium-high heat. I set my griddle at 300-350 F.
Pour or scoop ¼ cup of batter for each pancake. Wait until bubbles form to flip. Continue cooking for an additional minute to cook through, and brown on the other side.
Remove from the pan or griddle and serve.
