Keeping Your Heart and Body Healthy This Winter!

While the weather has been getting frostier, don't let the same happen to you! Use these ideas to keep on top of your physical health, as well as find some wholesome activities to enjoy!

  1. Walk your dog in a park/on a greenway

Layer up, and head outside to get your body moving! Make sure to stay warm while you walk and admire nature around you. While it has health benefits for you, this activity helps out a furry friend who may not get as much exercise during the colder season.

  1. Make cookies and share with your classmates

Check out this easy chocolate chip cookie recipe, which comes complete with tips on how to avoid common baking missteps! Store them in a tin or plastic container, and take them to school. You're sure to bring some smiles to your peers!

  1. Have a dance party in your room

Feeling down? Turn up the music and dance it out! And if you're feeling ambitious, try to get a few moves in before leaving your house in the morning— it's proven to boost your mood!

  1. Play board games with your family

While you're all sitting inside, waiting for the weather to turn brighter, pull out some old favorites (and maybe reestablish a winning streak)! Try games like Sorry!, A Ticket to Ride, UNO, Catan, Do You Really Know Your Family?, or JENGA.

  1. Go ice skating

Ice skating takes only a little bit of practice to learn, can be very cheap, and is super fun to go do with friends. Just go to your nearest ice skating center, rent some skates, and get on the rink!

  1. Read a book in the sunshine

Though there isn't much sunshine this time of year, when you can get some, sit in your favorite chair, grab a warm drink, and bundle up with a good book!

  1. Send a letter to a friend

If you, like me, feel like you don't see your friends nearly as often as is necessary in this cold and often bland time of year, try writing letters! This takes only about 15-30 minutes--more if you're feeling wordy. Keeping up a letter correspondence with a friend has the double benefit of making your friend happy when they receive it, and you happy when they return the favor! If you haven't written a letter in some time, here's a handy example of how to address and send one!

Thanks for checking out these activities to keep your winter joyful! Have a wonderful day, and try some out to make any day brighter!
