Whether you're driving, walking, or even biking, around our lovely state I am certain you have seen beautiful flowers blooming everywhere! In this blog, you will learn some fun facts about the most common summer flowers in North Carolina. 🌼
-all of these facts come from Nancy Goodwin-
Lantana
(Lantana Camara)
These flowers can come in colors of yellow, orange, white, red, pink, and purple! Once these flowers start to grow, it is very unlikely you'll be able to get them to stop, but who cares! They're so pretty why would you get rid of them anyway?
Rain Lily
(Habranthus and Zephyranthes)
These petite flowers grow no more than a foot and their most common colors are white, pink, and orange. They usually have a very sweet and pleasant fragrance!
Garden Cosmos
(Cosmos bipinnatus)
Garden Cosmos' are actually one of the many invasive plant's we have in North Carolina! These flowers can withstand wind and drought, making them fairly hard to get rid of. However, if you're a fan of these plants, their seeds can be collected and replanted for next year.
Wild Zinnia
(Zinnia grandiflora)
You most likely see these flowers planted among the highways in NC. These interesting looking flowers are very easy tend after. They don't need extra sun or water, and are not prone to many diseases!
Rose of Sharon
(Hibiscus syruacus)
I actually have this beautiful plant in my backyard, it sure does grow big if not maintained! It blooms later on in the Summer, making many people believe it is a sign of hope.
