Hello, my name is Aaron and I am an editor for the Bookworm Blog and a member of the UCL Teen Advisory Board. Join me as I explain my bookshelf and show off some of my favorite books!
Currently, I store my books in a console table. This table has two main cabinets. The left section serves as my bookshelf (which I will show off next). The right section contains multiple baskets where I store various items. This includes my Nintendo Switch games and extra school supplies. On the top of the table, I have my TV and Nintendo Switch, which I keep in the dock most of the time.
Now opening the left cabinet, you can finally see what you came here to read about. My bookshelf contains a variety of books which I try my best to keep organized based on the last name of the author. Due to spacing issues, however, I have moved the larger book series to the bottom shelf. Many of these books I enjoyed during my childhood, such as the Flat Stanley and City of Ember series, while others are YA fiction novels which I would recommend to anyone, such as Steelheart or the famous The Hunger Games series. You may also find various summer reading books in my collection as well that I have enjoyed and decided to keep on my shelf, such as Watership Down and Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.
On my top shelf, you can find most of these childhood favorites, summer reading novels, and various other books. In this arrangement is also my collection of Dairy of a Wimpy Kid novels. Although I couldn't tell you their plots today, I was a big fan of these books in elementary school. It is crazy to think Jeff Kinney has now written 16 (soon to be 17) books on Greg Heffley and I give kudos to anyone who has kept up with the series. This shelf also contains my City of Ember novels near the front of the row, which were some of my favorite books growing up. I definitely think my joy of those books has inspired my dystopian collection which you will see in my lower shelf.
On my bottom shelf, you can find the three collections of The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Though I will not spark a debate on whenever the movies of these respective series are faithful presentations of their books, I can say I have enjoyed all of these novels. For fans of the Hunger Games and the Maze Runner, I have recently added their newest additions being The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Crank Palace respectfully over the summer of COVID-19. Lastly, as I mentioned in my overview of the top shelf, I tend to gravitate toward dystopian novels and you can see my current collection, top and bottom, of related novels in the bottom left photo.
Thank you for joining me as I toured you around my book collection! I hope you
enjoyed learning about some of my favorite books and were possibly inspired to go seek out your old childhood novels in that box in your garage!
