Shelfie Bio: Ashleigh E-The HP Edition

So, this is my “little library.” Yeah, I know a person that is surrounded by books all day, but does not hoard them. Shocker!!! I’m one of those people that can’t stand clutter, like at all. If my home starts to get cluttered I start freaking out.

So, while this is technically more of a mantel than a shelf, it is still my prized collection that has been packed and moved more times than I care to think about. What better books to put on display than HARRY POTTER!!! It is more like a shrine than a display….haha (much to my husband’s dismay).

I’ve been obsessed with Harry Potter since I was a kid and will admit that I used to have Harry Potter figurines and all kinds of different toys as a child. I read Sorcerer’s Stone a few years after it was first released and was instantly hooked on J.K. Rowling’s magical world. Before Amazon was a thing I used to drag my mother to Walmart the day the new Harry Potter book was released and devour it in a matter of days. The books on my shelf are all my original purchases, so a few of my favorites are a little worse for wear, like my copy of Prisoner of Azkaban. What’s not to love? The gang are in their awkward teenage years and we get introduced to the plot twist of the century! What more could you ask for?!

The newest additions to my shrine in the past couple years have been the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Cursed Child. I felt as a Harry Potter fan I had to do my part and purchase them, but to be honest I was not a fan of The Cursed Child. The story was just really strange to me; it didn’t feel like the true J.K. Rowling books that I’d grown accustomed to. However, I did enjoy Fantastic Beasts as it gave more insight into the different magical creatures as well as Grindelwald’s origin story.

For those of you wondering about my fantastic bookends, I have no clue where you can buy them or if they even exist anymore. They were a Christmas present from my Grandma when I was child and I have had them for 15 plus years and refuse to get rid of them even though they are chipped in places.

Last, but certainly not least are my adorable Funko Pop figures. Who could forget about those adorable plastic things?! Luna Lovegood is sporting one of my favorite outfits of hers from the Half-Blood Prince. Then, we have Hagrid, who stands at a whopping 6 inches and is the largest Funko pop that I own. Finally, we have the infamous Harry Potter, who sits atop the wooden stool as he awaits the Sorting Hat’s decision.

Harry Potter will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will tote my precious collection with me, wherever I may go.
