For someone who loves books and reading as much as I do, my bookshelf seems to hold more Legos and knick-knacks than actual reading material. I tend to get most of my books from the library and ask for personal copies later if I really loved them, which explains the lack of books. There is also a massive bookshelf in my family’s bonus room where I put books I don’t have room for. What can I say, Legos are expensive and deserve to be displayed.
On top of my bookshelf, I have my collection of Lego architecture sets, which I have organized in an order going from the west coast of North America to the east coast of Asia, because why not?
The top shelf of my bookcase is divided into two sections by what I keep on each side and a literal wooden divider. On the left side, I have a picture of my parents holding me when I was a baby, a stack of gift cards, my library card, a platypus I crocheted, and books. The books on this side of the top shelf are mostly nostalgic books from my childhood, books that were gifted to me by family members, as well as a few random books I just really liked. The right half of this shelf holds my collection of Lego Brick Headz, two more crocheted animals, another picture, and my collection of Rick Riordan books. Well, most of my collection. There are so many books that they don’t all fit! I keep asking for them as gifts (even though I don't really have room), so I have to split the collection as it continues to grow.
The middle shelf holds a couple Lego sets (Hagrid’s Hut and the Knight Bus, if anyone was interested), and a lot of knick-knacks, including my small collection of souvenir snow globes, my two piggy banks, and my other small collection of ceramics I painted as a child. There’s also a smattering of things that were gifted to me. I got this blue duck for Easter and my grandma gave me these cards (they’re very cute, I don’t know where she finds them).
The bottom shelf is, you guessed it, more Legos and knick knacks. Although, the Legos are more interesting on this shelf. I have a model of Hedwig, a model of Fawkes the Phoenix, the Room of Requirement from the sixth Harry Potter book, the Dementor scene from the third book, and far too many of the Harry Potter subject books that expand into little classrooms. Can you tell I like Harry Potter? This shelf also holds a cardboard letter I made
in elementary school, an academic award trophy from the fifth grade, my jewelry, a disposable camera I filled up two years ago and have yet to get developed, and some little boxes containing my keychain collection. This shelf also holds, the keychains that wouldn’t fit in the boxes. Just another item I have too many of! I'm sure you’re wondering, “what’s that weird blue hand?” I made a wax hand that was supposed to be one half of a heart. My younger sister made the other half. What we didn’t realize was that wax is hot, which makes it hard to hold a very specific hand shape. This resulted in a very malformed heart. I still love it though, even if it looks really weird.
And that’s my bookshelf! It’s a little crowded and chaotic, but everything on it is special to me in some way, so I don’t mind the chaos (even if it’s a pain to dust).
So cute!
