Summer movie season is almost upon us! Anna and Laura are super excited to see some of the big blockbusters, especially since many have been delayed for a long time thanks to Covid-19. Here's what we are looking forward to the most:
Laura - Cruella May 28
As a HUGE Disney fan, of course I'm excited to see any and all upcoming Disney movies. Cruella is the first to be released, showing up in theaters on May 28. I love how Disney is turning all their old cartoon movies into live action versions, and I know this one will be amazing. And with two Oscar winners in Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, we know this movie will be beautifully acted.
Laura - In the Heights June 11
As a huge fan of both musicals and specifically Hamilton, I'm beyond excited for In the Heights. Anthony Ramos, the star of this film, was also in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton, so you bet he can sing! Lin-Manual Miranda is also involved in getting this Broadway show onto the big screen and plays a part in the film as well.
Laura - Jungle Cruise July 30
Again, this is another Disney movie, so of course I'm on board. I've been waiting for this movie to come out for what feels like years now. The Rock is always great to watch no matter what he is in, and who doesn't love Emily Blunt? Jungle Cruise is a classic attraction at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, so all those who have been to one of these parks can appreciate the silly Dad humor of the ride which I'm sure they'll pull into this movie.
Anna - Free Guy August 13
As a video game lover, I am personally excited for Free Guy. Upon a sneak peek at the trailer, this movie has a few popular actors, YouTubers, and Twitch gamers in the cast. It also has some familiar video game references throughout the trailer and, hopefully, within the movie.
Anna - Respect August 13
R-E-S-P-E-C-T...I am so excited!
As an Aretha Franklin fan, I am thrilled to hear that they are creating a movie about her musical life. Aretha Franklin was known as the “Queen of Soul” and I look forward to watching Jennifer Hudson and many others portray the life of this remarkable woman.
