'Tis The Season For Winter Movie Marathons!

It’s cold outside! With chilly weather, everyone does what they can to stay warm. You can wrap yourself in blankets, sit by the fire, and whatever you can to stay cozy and snug. This is time well spent both while alone and with others. No matter who you’re with, there are countless winter movies available to help pass the time! Plus, once you are finished, you can always watch their available sequels.


Frozen

As captivating tale of friendship, magic, and ice, Frozen is an entertaining movie for anyone to enjoy. The story tells the journey of Anna, an heir to the Arendelle throne. Elsa, her sister, has drifted away from Anna after childhood tragedy and due to possessing mysterious ice powers. When Elsa's powers are revealed to the people of Arendelle, she goes into hiding while building up her abilities. As Anna goes in search for Elsa, she meets many different people and forms lifelong bonds while working around many obstacles. This includes pursing possible relationships. This movie seems to check all the boxes. While typically it is meant for kids, it is a good fit for any age. Once you are finished, you can always watch the sequel film, Frozen 2.




The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

This movie is a fantasy-adventure film and a retelling of E. T. A. Hoffmann's 1816 short story, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King." It also takes inspiration from Marius Petipa and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's 1892 ballet, "The Nutcracker". The main character, Clara, needs a one of a kind magic key to unlock a mysterious box which contains a priceless gift. Upon the discovery of the mystical key, she finds herself in a strange parallel world. In this world, she meets many new and unusual friends and foes, all of which reside within three realms. Clara, along with her new accomplice, must travel to a fourth realm and attempt to fix a broken land before she can return home.



Home Alone

For those looking for a Christmas movie with a twist, Home Alone is the movie for you! Eight-year-old Kevin McAllister has become the man of the house overnight. After accidentally being left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas vacation, Kevin begins preparing for the holidays alone. His plans for relaxation are soon foiled. Two burglars attempt to break in to the McAllister Home and Kevin has a multitude of surprises in store for them! Afterward, if you enjoy watching Kevin's shenanigans, you can see the sequel film, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.





Cool Runnings

Based on a true story, Cool Runnings is a comedic journey of four Jamaican athletes doing anything they can to compete as bobsled racers in the Winter Olympics. With little resources and minimum knowledge of winter sports, it's sure to be a tough trek for this group from the tropics as they try for gold in Calgary, Canada. To achieve their goal, these four Jamaicans enlist the help of Irv, an ex-champion American slider. Once committed to coaching a team of absolute novices, Irv is determined to lead them to victory and right the wrongs of his own failed career. It is a very bumpy ride, but with pride, determination, and dignity, the bobsledders make their impossible dreams come true.



Ice Age

For a more ancient story, Ice Age is the move for you! With the impending ice age almost upon them, a clashing trio of prehistoric critters, Manny the woolly mammoth, Diego the saber-toothed tiger, and Sid the sloth, find an orphaned infant and decide to return it to its human parents. Along the way, the mismatched allies become friends. When their enemies attack, however, their quest takes on far nobler aims. If you enjoy this film, you can check out the many sequel movies following this original story. This includes the sequel film, Ice Age: The Meltdown.
