Who doesn't love a good road trip? As long as there not to long lol. There a ton place places you can get to and have a great time. Most of the the places on this list are only 1 to 2 hours outside of Charlotte. Take a look at my top 5 places to go on a day trip to get away.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens

If you love to look at the wonders of nature, check out this place. Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is a Garden for all seasons. The breathtaking Visitor Pavilion welcomes visitors to 110 acres of spectacular gardens including a children’s garden, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, a Dry Piedmont Prairie, annual and perennial displays, sparkling fountains, walking trails and more. Andrew Jackson State Park

There's a lot to do at Andrew Jackson State Park, snap a photo with Anna Hyatt Huntington's timeless statue, Boy of the Waxhaw's. Hike the Garden of the Waxhaw's Trail, a beautiful 1-mile loop around the lake, or paddle around the 18-acre lake. Explore the Andrew Jackson Museum or enjoy a special park event. Museum hours: Sa-Su 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Admission is $3 adults and $1 for children age 6-15

Carrigan Farms

Feel like going for a swim? Brave the 25- foot jump at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville. This natural, spring-fed swimming hole is open to groups of any size that make an advanced reservation. Every swimmers must wear a life jacket or pass a swimming test. Apple picking begins in September. The pumpkin patch and haunted trail are open in October. There's food too!


Open swim is all summer long. Make a reservation, here. Dates and times become available 14 days in advance.

Admission is $20 to $30 per person.

Morrow Mountain State Park

Ever just want to take in some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors. Choose an adventure at Morrow Mountain State Park, whether it’s hiking, camping, paddling, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, this place has what you need to enjoy hours outside. Visit the website here, for more information.

North Carolina Zoo

The North Carolina Zoo is nestled on 2,600 wooded acres centrally located in the heart of North Carolina. It is the world's largest natural habitat zoo, and is home to over 1.600 animals from more than 200 species. Visit the website here, for more details.
