Unlock the Power of Canva: all the Secret Tips You Need to level up your Designing Game

Hey there! I'm Riya, one of the designers for the Teen Vibe Newsletter. I get to play around with content for the Teen Nonfiction and Teen Tips pages, and guess what? We're all about Canva for our designs—it's like our creative playground! Sprinkling a bit of magic on Canva isn't always a breeze, but I've got some awesome tips and tricks that have seriously improved my designs. Wanna add a dash of flair to your creations? Let me spill my secrets!

౨ৎ Elements: Letters

Titles need to pop, and that's a little hard to do with basic letters and boring fonts. Just go to the elements tab on the left of your workspace, type any letter, and see all the amazing new fonts!

౨ৎ Elements: Photos

Did you know cartoon graphics aren't the only elements Canva offers? Move onto the photos tab and get realistic elements to add to your design! This can really help if you want to make your design look more professional than fun.

౨ৎ Draw Feature

Don't put Canva's draw feature to waste! Adding little doodles and handwritten words can really add a personal touch to your designs.

౨ৎ Text: Effects

Want to make your text more interesting? After clicking on your textbox, click the "Effects" tab on the top of your workspace. You can make your text outlined, neon, and even curved!

౨ৎ Design Codes

Want some inspiration for your next design? Maybe log out of Canva for a bit: instead, check on Pinterest. By searching "Canva Elements" on Pinterest, you can find element sets that can really inspire your design! The code you need to type into the search bar for this element set is set:nAE7YemdXJw as shown in the picture.

౨ৎ Pro Tips: Canva Apps

Sadly, this tip is only eligible for Canva Pro Users, but it is a really helpful tip! Pro Users have Canva Apps, which is available to use on the left taskbar. These apps include background removers, shadow makers, and the blur tool, which you can access by clicking on your image, and then the 'Edit image' bar on the top bar. You can also make QR codes from websites & many more! Don't be afraid to play around :)
