Still want garlic bread but you are vegan or dairy free? Then try this recipe for vegan garlic bread! I got the recipe from @pengveganmuch on instagram.
Ingredients
Flour mix
1/4 cup bread flour
1/2 cup soy milk
1/4 cup water
Bread
6 cups bread flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tsp dry active yeast
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups warm soy milk
2/3 cup vegan butter (for dough)
1/2 cup vegan butter (for garlic mix)
2 roasted garlic heads
A bunch of parsley
A bag of vegan mozzarella cheese
Steps
Mix the flour mix ingredients over medium heat on a stove until thickened to a wet paste
Once thick, put in a container and set aside to cool
Mix the bread flour, brown sugar, yeast, and salt together
Make a well in the center of the dry mix and add the soy milk, vegan butter and flour mix and kneed for 15 minutes until smooth (I used a kitchenade)
Grease a bowl with extra vegan butter and add in your bread dough
Let it rest for an hour and a half
While the dough is rising, roast your garlic in the oven at 350°F for 50 minutes or until soft
Once your bread has risen and garlic is roasted, take the bread out and roll it out into about a thickness of about 1/4 of an inch square (I recommend a little bit thinner)
In a bowl, mix together the vegan butter, the roasted garlic, and parsley and spread it over your dough
Sprinkle vegan cheese, herbs and salt onto the rolled out dough
Cut the dough into squares and layer them onto one another
Place stacked dough into a vegan buttered pan (Make sure the bread fits in the pan with additional room so it can cook all of the way. I did not do that and some of my dough remained raw)
13. Place bread into a 350°F oven for 30 minutes
14. Take it out, cover it with foil, and place back in the oven for another 15-30 minutes
15. Let cool and then enjoy!
